🍥 Life
Hi friends! How are you doing?? I’m in HK right now! 🇭🇰
SO I realize I do this thing where I do random things to avoid doing the thing that I actually care about because I'm too scared of failure. For example👇
I care the most about:
🎥 Making videos
📖 Self studying
🤝 Helping people with their careers
🤖 Tech & AI
What I’ve been doing instead:
🖥️ A cool but unrelated startup
✅ Saying yes to random things
I guess you can call it productive procrastination lol. Not saying that the things I’m doing now are bad or not valuable - they are! They just aren’t the things that I want to be doing the most. I guess I’m scared that if I try my best and still fail I would be devastated. So instead I do other things to still feel productive, but it won’t hurt as much if I fail. If that makes any sense…🥹
Anyways clearly this isn’t working out so it’s time to make a change. I’ll explain my plan a bit further down.
Btw follow me on IG? 🤗🤗
🌻 Interesting Things (I think)
A range of things that I find interesting! 👇
🤖 Tech & AI
OpenAI: GPT-4o came out and we built an app to test it out. You can try it out directly here and/or check out the code and run it yourself here.
TL;DR GPT-4o is actually quite good!
Google: Plans to release a bunch of AI products, including hardware. Condensed video here.
Microsoft: Has new PCs integrated with Copilot. Ad here and full keynote here. tbh I’m probably gonna stick to mac. 😅
🖊️ Learning
Keystone Habit: A habit that has a positive rippling effect throughout the rest of my life. 🌊🌊
My keystone habit is definitely self studying. When I consistently self study, I not only learn useful new things, but also start transforming the rest of my life. I suddenly get motivated to work out, eat better, and have better impulse control.
I’m getting back on track and this is my new study plan:
🎥 Script writing & production: I’ve committed to learning how to make better videos. (4 hrs/wk)
💼 Business: I’ve committed to creating a new memberships program. It’s for people who want to learn AI skills and build products, but may not have the time and/or financial means to do the full Lonely Octopus program. (2 hrs/wk)
P.S. I go into a lot more detail in this video if you’re curious.
What’s your keystone habit? Comment below!

If self studying is also your keystone habit I highly recommend you check out Coursera as a learning resource. Coursera has 7000+ courses in collaboration with top universities and companies, including many free specializations and professional certificates.
For example if you’re ready to kickstart a career in applied AI, I highly recommend checking out the free IBM AI Developer Professional Certificate.

Hey Tina, nice post! Can I give an idea of video/post? I am in a process of changing careers, now I am an Electronic Engineer working in the automobile industry as a Hardware Architect, but since 2020 I decided to return to university and get a second degree in Computer Engineer, and now I think I am ready to start the search for a job in IT. What do you think to create a content advising on a portfolio creation aiming this type of situation? People in career changing with years of experience in a different field trying to change to an IT career. I hope I made myself clear. Thank you and keep up with the good work =D
hey Tina,
for my fear of failure and perfectionism i am currently trying self-compassion, starting with the smallest step possible and not treating procrastination as negative but integral part of the process.
does it make me a lot more productive?? no lol but it makes work a tiny bit more enjoyable and who know in the long run i might actually be more productive because it's more sustainable that way 🤷♂️
what is even productivity??
