Yay! To all the sections. Meeting up with old friends can be uplifting. I can relate to the anime statement, but I do sometimes watch ghibli movies because they are short and sweet and to the point. I just have other priorities like learning Japanese on Duolingo and practicing Spanish and french. The book is next on my audiobook list. How do you get your audiobooks? I try to look up the free versions in the library apps like Hoopla or Libby.

I look forward to the beta of LO. I'm currently starting my first semester into comp programming at pasadena city college.

Happy Safe travels!

It’s great to see you meetup with old friends and that you can reconnect so nonchalant like. I also love how you stand your ground on your choices on not wearing black or watching anime anymore, but tbh I don’t think one can truly give those up.

Black is just a convenient color, it goes with everything at least that’s what I think. I know it’s associated with dark or depressing undertones, but that’s cause of our society and it views on light v. dark, good v. evil, yin v. yang, but as the old adage goes not everything is black and white. Therefore the views on black shouldn’t be well, so black and white lol. However I do understand taking a break from black cause there are other great colors out there lol. Purple and green are some of my faves.

And anime well… it’s a bit more complicated. For some reason this reminded me about the social taboo of adults and how they are not allowed to play with toys because it’s frowned upon by society. If you’ve played the Super Smash Bros games or know the storyline then you probably know what I’m talking about if not I’d recommend checking it out if you can find a concise version. Anime has that same stigma it seems, despite nerd culture having been more accepted in recent years.

I’m getting somewhere with this I promise, I’m not just ranting lmaoo. I can’t remember precisely the concept, but it goes something like finding what part of you is deadwood and letting it burn away so that only the true you is left after the smoke and ash clear. Similar to how controlled forest fires are caused so that all the dry twigs, sticks, and leaves that have been accumulated over the year are burned away before they can cause a worse fire.

If anime and wearing black are sort of like your deadwood then “burning” them might be for the best. However the same ol’ vegetation is still going to grow where the burned forest once stood and I’d say the same thing happens with us. Unless of course, you let the fire burn for too long and you kinda completely killed the forest and any chance of it regrowing, which in that case whoopsie 😐😬🫠

I just canceled my Crunchy Roll subscription of 3+ Years today. Honestly I go weeks and weeks without watching anime.

Nice to see you having fun in Korea and meeting up with old friends.

"I may no longer be a weeb" hit like a bombshell, though I can totally relate. I feel like I had a similar moment with video games a few years back.

Hope you are doing well in Korea! I've been following your YT channel but just found that you are going to China. I went to China last October and came back on February. Quarantine was no joke but if you have the "Red" app, there is a lot of useful information that can help you prepare. Personally I think the condition of quarantine hotels has improved a lot compared to the beginning, my friends and I all got to stay at fairly nice hotels though of course, 14 days of not going out can be challenging sometime. There are lots of changes which made me happy.

Anyway, enjoy Korea! Sending you love<3

I appreciate the things you need everyday to feel good but at the same time I would give yourself some slack.

degeneracy once in a while is okay. You don't owe yourself anything just to start your day. There is a good quote from Oliver Burkeman paraphrased below

"Start every day at 0 not with productivity debt. There is no minimum amount of things you have to do everyday to allow your self to exist. Keep a "done" list of things you did accomplish so maybe you feel less like a sad potato or a degenerate"
