I am so happy that you find a good decision making solution for yourself early in your life. I used to do that too but It's not working for me the same way you do. I don't believe in fate. :( Maybe It's because whenever I made a decision with my heart, I regretted it so much that I promised myself I'll never choose my heart over my brain and logical decisions. 😁 My heart decisions are sucked in my passed 13 years and I suffered from it enough. This also means that I'll never choose my personal life over my career (until a certain time of course. 😅 ) so I am planning to leave my boyfriend in Turkey and go for master's degree to abroad 😭 Ultimately he will come where ever I am tho. Overall, painful but It's better than regret it later.

mmm fate to me is everything outside of my control. Haha brain vs. heart is a tricky one for sure. Yeah sometimes it really is about making the best decision with all the available information that you have and there's nothing more you can do.

Hi Tina. Welcome back to Toronto! I'm a bit surprised that you chose life science instead of computer science. Would you talk more about how you made the decision?

Education in Canada, particularly in the Province of Ontario can be really stressful! The mental health issues there that students face is unreal! I got into a Post Graduate Diploma program in Toronto (During the peak Pandemic - Jan, 2021) and despite being the top 3 in the class I decided to leave Canada for good after 6 months (I had it enough!). My decision was completely fact-based though despite my intuition was still the same.

I am glad to see where you are and who you have become!!

Keep Smiling and Keep Hustling!

Hi Tina,

My week has been meh. Nothing compared to what you've been going through - I just gave a really sucky demo at my sprint review and it makes me internally cringe just thinking about it. Through your videos, I feel like any skill can be learned and I just need to put a plan in place. I just need to get past the embarrassment and take a hard look at why I hate presentations. (I'm a software tester so I'm planning to start making small videos for myself to practice explaining the changes made after each of my work items. )

Anyway, I'm sorry that you're going through such a turbulent time but these are the times that really test your mettle and refine your values and things you hold dear. Tough decisions are tough and I'm glad you've made peace with your choice. I think the most important part about making a decision is getting as much information as you can. You had a clear picture of both scenarios and still had a hard time picking between the two. Even though you based your decision on your subconscious intuition, it's not an uninformed decision based on a false picture conjured up by your hopes and vague ideas.

Keep being kind to yourself and I wish you strength and courage for the challenges that you may face in the upcoming week.

Hello Tina, I found what you wrote above to be very interesting, especially when you got to the part about subconcious choice making when it comes to equal choices regarding benefits. It reminded me strongly of a book I was reading in the last quarantine called Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker, especially when you mentioned "taking a nap". What I learned is that we humans register information and the content we consume during the day in the nighttime (like some sort of a hard drive) in non-REM sleep, but it is in the form of static input. In order to create value from this information (output) AKA "creativty", our brain switches to another phase of sleep called Rem-sleep in which it creates various weird and illogical relations between the neurons that contain the new information and already existing ones. That's why it's in this phase that we experience dreams, and more often than not, our dreams are weird and unrealistic. We are some fascinating species, and this cycle made us the most intelligent and masters of the planet.

In my opinion, it's always necessary to absorb as much information as possible, whether from books or else (without reaching the state of information overload) in order to make the right choices, but it is equally important to follow your own intuition/subconscious choice and not to treat the learned information as static blocks, and that's what differentiates a multi-dimensional creature who has emotions and advanced superior evolutionary traits to ensure his survival from a cold-dead machine.

keep fighting!!

Hi Tina, I think it's a great approach to absorb as much info and let the heart (not brain) decide. Btw will we get an update regarding the tough decisions?

Hi Tina!

It's strangely nice to hear there are other people who also experience this type of decision making. Sometimes it's nice to let the heart decide, especially when you're in turmoil over a decision which, as you said, has equal pro's and con's.

I hope whatever decision you made turns out well for you. Fate itself is a tricky subject. For many, there's a secret spider weaving a web behind the scenes, and for others, free will is just that. I feel as though it is what you make of it. I think your decision was the right one for what you needed in that moment. We can debate about our choices for years to come, but they're made and what happens happens.

I had to come to terms with that recently. That feeling of wishing I could just redo everything, what if I did this instead of that, how would my life be different. But what if I could just be isekai'd into a new world? This might not be how you feel, but it's the best way I can relate to what you mentioned.

Last week I mentioned my Amazon interview... yeah blew that... and it was over the easy stuff. I cracked under pressure. I want to make myself feel better by saying it was just a learning experience and there will be more opportunities out there. As we said though, that feeling of self-doubt comes up again. Maybe I'll try your method of writing my feelings down.

I wish you the best for your coming week and hope that whatever future challenges you face, you face them head on.

I must say, Man's Search for Meaning is a great book. I think I had read it because you'd recommended in one of your videos. The author reminds us that we cannot avoid suffering but we can choose how to cope with it, find meaning in it, and move forward with renewed purpose. Anyway thank you for being consistent with your weekly newsletters. Take care, Tina. :)

Let’s gooo!!

It’s good to read that you’re moving forward and using the quote you mentioned to build fortitude. Slow but steady wins the race! Nothing wrong with crying in public if it’s cathartic for you.

I’ve been wanting to tell you about this anime, you might have heard about it, it’s called “Your Lie In April” hopefully you enjoy it cause it’s one of my favorites.

A quote I read today that applies to your current situation. Remember “that people are stronger than their misfortunes.”

Well, I'm glad you're working through it, i have no experience or comparison to what you must feel or bee going through. But i still have opinions. One anime that made me feel like there is hope in making any choice that at least moves you forward, is Claymore. Or Bananya.

Perhaps a way to completely jostle and jog your brain cells: Deep dive ancient Alien Theory and Old Testament is good too, with interesting branches into anthropology, psychology, philosophy, and human history.

More power to you Team Tina, be true to who you are or want to be, let it work.

PS: I hope your next article is named whatever you want, or an assortment of words from our comments.
