🐈⬛ Life
Hi friend! How’s the week going for you?
I’m in a Chinese quarantine hotel. Quarantine is 7 + 3. 7 days in one hotel and 3 in another. But apparently, I was sitting next to someone on the plane who had covid, so they extended my quarantine by another day. Holy shit people weren’t kidding when they said that covid regulations are insane. 🤯
I was talking to someone on the plane who was part of the 2 month Shanghai lockdown, and she said they were stuck at home for literally 2 months except to get covid tested every 3 days. It looked like a ghost town. Shanghai, the business capital of China!!
Should I make a China vlog? Week in the life of Chinese Covid Quarantine? Me slowing losing my mind? 🥲 Okay, I’m being dramatic lol. The hotel is actually quite nice. I’m just a restless person that usually never stays at home, so that’s probably why it’s quite hard for me.
(๑*ᗜ*) Anime
If I still don’t watch anime by next week I’ll remove this section.
📖 Books
Still reading Sapiens and listening to The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur audiobook. Here’s a sad bit from Sapiens:
Of the twenty-four Australian animal species weighing fifty kilograms or more, twenty-three became instinct.
There used to be 200 kg kangaroos, huge koalas, flightless birds twice the size of ostriches sprinting on the plains, and many more.
Unfortunately, every time humans set foot in a different part of the world, a similar trend followed. The majority of megafauna and a significant number of smaller species disappeared in just a few millennia.
🍊 The First Wave Extinction accompanied the spread of foragers.
🌾 The Second Wave Extinction accompanied the spread of farmers.
⚙️ The Third Wave Extinction accompanied the industrial activity from today.
It seems like humans have been driving species to extinction for a very long time…
🌻 Learning & Productivity
I’ve gotten into a routine during quarantine. I wake up, livestream and do some work, eat lunch at 12 pm, chill for a bit, do some more work, eat dinner, talk to a friend, exercise, and then go to bed. I know it sounds terribly dull and ngl it kinda is lol. But it’s okay. Work keeps me busy and talking to friends keeps me from going insane.
This is a weird thing, but I have to put on my shoes. If I don’t put on my shoes I feel like a degenerate. 😅
Another habit that I’ve developed is writing a lot. Writing has been one of the most therapeutic things when I’m having a bad day. It’s so helpful to write down thoughts that are hard to tell other people about. I notice that I always end with a similar type of positive resolution that makes me feel better. Is it kinda like brainwashing myself - yes I think so.
I think a spin-off of this effect is if you keep repeating the same things over and over again, at some point you believe it. At least I hope. 🤞
👨💻 What I’m Working On
Lonely Octopus! We’re almost done with the scoreboard templates. Sign up on the website to get them if you haven’t already!
I’m going through the applications now and tentatively creating the octopi groups and making template study plans. 🐙🐙
💻 Today’s coding challenge (SQL/Python)
📈 GROW DEM SALES
Write a query to return Territory and corresponding Sales Growth. Compare growth between periods Q4-2021 vs Q3-2021. If Territory (say T123) has Sales worth $100 in Q3-2021 and Sales worth $110 in Q4-2021, then the Sales Growth will be 10% [ i.e. = ((110 - 100)/100) * 100 ]. Output the ID of the Territory and the Sales Growth. Only output these territories that had any sales in both quarters.

Hey! Greetings from Colombia, in the other side of the world.
I hope you get better everyday, specially know I see you have a routine, that helps a lot.
Remember to rest, to change some parts of that routine sometimes.
About anime, it's kind of sad, from another weeb :P
However, you can explore another media o just take a break. I think some things are with you just for a part of the road and help you to reach a point of your life and that's simply ok.
Keep yourself strong and focus. And, as somebody said: work hard but always remember to play ;)
