π₯ Life
Hi friend! Howβs it going??
This week for me has been about goal setting (talk about it more below).
I also went to this creators party hosted by Nas Daily and The European Kid. It was literally the first party I had been to for at least 5 years where I didnβt really know anybody so I was like π€©π±π₯Ί but I think I managed to appear πππ€ (I hope).
The trick I used is this thing called The Alter Ego Effect: Creating an alter ego that is a superhero version of yourself that you can turn into when you need extra confidence or strength.
Lots of celebrities and athletes do this. For example, BeyoncΓ© is naturally quite shy but she performs as her more confident and outgoing character, Sasha Fierce. Or how Kobe created "The Black Mamba," a persona that helped him be more focused and aggressive on the court.
I donβt have a particular name for my alter ego and this might sound kinda weird but as some of you may know, I usually dress in all black and Iβm very introverted and soft-spoken. BUT when I need to be confident and meet new people, I dress in all white like this. π
It kinda just happened but somehow it became a thing and it really does work for me. Do you have an alter ego?
π» Learning & Productivity
I did my Q3 planning this week. Iβm a month late lol but better late than never?
I follow the SMART goal framework (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-Bound). Here are my 3 goals:
π€ΎββοΈ Health
To reach my goal weight of 128 pounds, I will lose a sustainable 1 pound/wk by Oct. 7 by:
πΆ A walk or bike ride everyday
ποΈ Gym or some sort of bodyweight exercise everyday
π₯’ Fast until 12pm everyday
This will allow me to feel good, wear the clothes that I want, have more energy, and feel like Iβm taking care of myself.
Note: I messed up my foot and essentially didnβt do any exercise for 8 weeks, which is why I gained a lot of weight. Thereβs no βrightβ weight but I know from my own experience that I feel my best around 128 pounds. I also prioritize consistency by having micro goals everyday, even if itβs just a 10 minute walk or 20 pushups.
πΉ Content
To reach my goal of being consistent with my content, I will go back to my previous schedule of:
π£οΈ Post 1 video/wk
π° Post 1 newsletter/wk
This will help make me feel more connected with everyone again, push me to learn new things, give me a creative outlet, and be able to fund my personal life and Lonely Octopus.
Note: I used to be very consistent but fell off the wagon about 1 year ago and never managed to get back on again because of constant travelling and focusing on Lonely Octopus. ππ
π Lonely Octopus
To reach my goal of growing Lonely Octopus, I want at least 10k people to have derived value from Lonely Octopus by end of this year and run at least 1 more cohort. To do this, I will improve the program and provide more free value to the community by:
π οΈ Implementing the feedback from past cohorts to improve the Lonely Octopus experience.
π£οΈ Hosting at least 1 free educational workshop/seminar related to career development, data, AI, or learning skills.
π¨βπ» Creating at least 1 piece of free high quality educational content or learning tool (plans for building the tool are already in place - Iβm so excited to share more soon π) per month.
This will help me achieve my dream of building Lonely Octopus to help people become lifelong learners and use the skills they learn to craft a dream career for themselves. It will also help me diversify my income stream so I donβt have to depend primarily on Youtube views to survive.
Btw I just have to share Bhaktiβs project analyzing US consumption habits. The Medium article itself is also so well-written and I highly recommend checking out this project as an example of a high quality project that showcases the use of statistical techniques and machine learning on real world data.
And this is a project that Stefani did on investigating various stock performances. She went from 0 coding experience to a full project in 7 weeks. π€―
Now THIS is why Iβm so sure that consistent learning is the key to achieving anything.
Lmk in the comments, what are your goals?? Letβs keep each other accountable!
P.S. All constructive feedback is greatly appreciated :)

Hello! I have been following your videos quite some time and it is my first time reading your blog update and it was lovely. Love to continue to see your growth and use it as inspiration to create my own journey in the world of tech.
Hi Tina, didnβt know I could reply to the posts lol. Like the other comment though, youβve shaped my career outlook a lot and influenced me to add another major. Iβm now pursuing data related fields as well! Iβm not too sure if this is what I want my end goal to be but thank you for providing direction in my life.
