🍥 Life
Hi friends! How’s it going??
I read the book A Million Miles In A Thousand Years again. I’ve read this book several times already but felt like I needed a refresher. It’s about the author who sold a bunch of copies of a memoir and then had a couple producers approach him to make a film of his life. While adapting his life for film, he realized that his real life is rather meh and set on a journey to make his real life a better story.
It sounds so bland when I just say the premise like that, but this is a book that truly changed my life. It made me realize that I also don’t want to live a life that is just comfortable and can’t complain - the days, months, and years just passing by and somehow I’m on my deathbed. I want to live a life where I feel things deeply: pain, fear, hope, joy, and love. I want to live.
🌻 Interesting Things (I think)
A range of things that I find interesting!
🤖 Tech & AI
Meta just introduced Segment Anything Model 2 (SAM 2). It’s an advanced AI model that can identify and track objects across video frames in real-time. They have a demo where you can upload your own videos too which I did 👇 (link to original video).
There are so many applications in the film industry, video products, AR/VR, and all sorts of video editing use cases. Meta is also open sourcing the model and releasing the database of 50k videos used for training. 👏👏
Also check out Meta’s Llama 3.1 if you haven’t already!

Reminder: my impossible crazy goal is to positively touch the lives of a million people ie. 1 million views/video.
I released a video this week that did not do well at all. That made me extra sad because I tried very hard to make a good video. But that’s okay…the journey continues. 🤗
🍥 Anime
I watched Eighty-Six recently and it’s now top 5 on my list of favourite anime. It’s about the on going war between the Republic of San Magnolia and the Giadian Empire, where it is reported that there are no casualties. But this is a lie. While the Republic’s Alba race lives within the eighty-five sectors, those of different descent are forced to live in the eight-sixth district and fight for the country that abandoned them.
It’s just so good. 🥺💔🙇 I had to go buy the light novels too, which I rarely do.

Hi Tina. I still don't read that book, but the life you are describing sound like I thought I want for me too. The wealthiness and professional success are only one spectrum of life, but certainly have deep motivations behind like recognition, sense of belonging to something bigger, be useful and in ultimate instance, and I believe the most important, set a secure base for spend more quality time and share resources with people close to us.
And achieve all these for sure make us live in the edge. I gonna check that book.

That's great. Follow those dreams. Set challenging goals and achieve them. That fire in the belly is why young me join the Marines and climb mountains.
You'll have plenty of time as you get older to mellow out and enjoy the comfortable side of life. Go for it.
