🍥 Life
Hey friend! How’s it going?? I’ve been doing okay, although far less active than before since I messed up my foot. I’m hoping to be able to walk (mostly normally) again in a couple weeks tho. 🤞
So review of 2 months of new habits:
🥶 Cold showers - I’ve been taking cold showers everyday (except the first few days when I messed up my foot) and it’s been a GAMECHANGER for reals. I absolutely hate it, which is exactly the point according to Andrew Huberman. 😅 I try to take a cold shower first thing in the morning and when I catch myself falling into a procrastination spiral. Do you know that feeling when you’re bored, but also too tired to do anything productive so you just procrastinate by scrolling on the social medias - then the more you scroll, the more tired you get etc. 🫠
Yeah - that’s when I make myself take a cold shower and it jolts me out of it almost instantly!
☀️ Morning sunlight - This is also a recommendation from Andrew Huberman (I want to be just like him jk maybe 🥺). The results from going outside and getting some sunlight as early as possible is less dramatic than for cold showers. But over time, I do feel like I have more energy throughout the day and am generally just in a better mood.
🥤 Fasting (with electrolytes) - I’ve been doing intermittent fasting for years now but in the past couple months, I started to take LMTE electrolyte powder things during the fast and throughout the day. This is not sponsored (but do hmu LMTE haha) because it’s made a huge difference! I don’t know why (it’s not diabetes, I checked) but I ALWAYS feel dehydrated no matter how much water I drink. These have helped me feel much less dehydrated and also helps me fast for longer!
#nothealthadvice tho k - just sharing my personal experience!
🌻 Learning & Productivity
I’ve been reading Outlive: The Science & Art of Longevity, which as its name suggests talks about how to live a long (and healthy) life.
The book discusses how the current iteration of medicine, which he calls Medicine 2.0, has failed to make much progress against the 4 horsemen:
❤️ Heart Disease
🦠 Cancer
🧠 Alzheimer’s Disease
💉 Type 2 Diabetes
We often wait too long to intervene with treatments, resulting in prolonging lifespan at the expense of healthspan (quality of life). He explains that we need to replace this outdated framework with a more personalized, proactive approach to longevity, which he calls Medicine 3.0.
It’s quite a dense book ngl but it’s extremely well researched and thorough, covering basically all the topics that relate to lifespan and healthspan….I really should sleep more. 🙈
👨💻 What I’m Working On
I’m primarily focusing on partnering with companies to create more freelance projects for our Lonely Octopus octopi! Almost all companies I’ve chatted with are interested in incorporating AI into their existing businesses in all sorts of interesting use cases. 😎
I also started the Bigger Pockets Rookie Bootcamp to learn more about real estate, something that is part of my next step in achieving financial freedom. One of my friends recommended it and I’m excited to learn more!
🤯 Cool Internet Stuff
Google recently released a FREE Generative AI learning path with 10 micro courses here! I like that it’s super digestible, but still has some depth. Are you interested in taking it??
P.S. All constructive feedback is greatly appreciated :)
