πββ¬ Life
Hi friend! Howβs the week going for you?
Iβve been travelling this week! Iβm visiting Luke in Arkansas and Ken is also here. Itβs been absolutely amazing finally meeting them in person. They showed me that anything can be fried eg. mushrooms, okra, cornbread, and apparently also ice cream. Also just being around them has made me 100x more creative and ambitious. π₯π₯
(ΰΉ*α*) Anime
I finished watching Nagi-Asu: A Lull in the Sea. HMMMM the art and themes are compelling, but the interpersonal relationships and actual concerns that the characters had were quite oversimplified. Also, the resolutions were rather disappointing (I am anime connoisseur now).
I also started watching Remake Our Life! Iβm on episode 3 and itβs looking promising!
Remake Our Life is about this 28-year-old guy that got a business degree but eventually leaves his office job to pursue a career in video game design and ends up being laid off and unemployed. He thinks a lot about how his life would have been different if he didnβt chicken out of going to art school instead of business school.
Then WOW he suddenly gets to be 18 again and this time he chooses art school! π¨What I think is really interesting is the paradigm of playing life safe (a business degree) vs. going all out on something risky (art school). He also gets to meet his future idols and witness their struggles and how much doubt they also had in themselves before becoming famous.
Tentatively highly recommend!
π Books
I finished The Body Keeps the Score but tbh didnβt read much else. Ken recommended This is Your Mind on Plants so thatβs what Iβm going to read next. Itβs about how humans have used plants throughout time and especially our relationship with psychotropic plants eg. caffeine, opium, and psychedelics. If it seems interesting to you, then do pick it up and we can read it together this week! π€
π» Learning & Productivity
Consistent self-learning aka. adult learning is life-transforming and itβs just such a shame most people never figure it out and essentially stop learning when they get out of school. After I finally figured out how to consistently self-study and apply what I learn to my own life, it felt like a ladder suddenly appeared and I just have to keep climbing up, one step at a time, to reach greater heights.
ANYWAYS, after I finally figured out how to adult learn, it literally transformed me from someone that had 10+ unfinished online courses and self-study plans to someone thatβs learned how to trade, how to manage my finances to finally work towards my goals, how to start and run a business, and now how to code a blockchain. Iβm not saying Iβm a master at any of these but Iβd say Iβm at least on my way to intermediate IN 1 YEAR!!!
The framework is:
have a goal and subgoals
exploit what pushes your buttons
adopt a low-bar mindset
implement accountability
track leading and lagging metrics

Iβm not going to go into too much detail here since this video I made does it much better (also I make Naruto analogies that I am very proud of). π₯
There are so many things I want to learn and to keep learning! Iβm pretty deep into the blockchain stuff now and canβt wait to work on more projects. I also would love to learn Japanese so I can finally watch anime without subs lol.
Do let me know in the comments how you view adult learning! Also, what are you learning now/what do you want to learn next?? ποΈ
π¨βπ» Coding
My progress on the blockchain course is a bit slow this week due to travelling but weβre still chugging along, which is what matters.β€οΈ
I learned more about transactions when I ran into not knowing how to do the transactions part of the capstone project. As I mentioned in the last newsletter, I prefer a reverse-engineered learning style, which I find is faster and more relevant.
π» Todayβs coding challenge (SQL/Python)
Find the popularity percentage for each user on Meta/Facebook. The popularity percentage is defined as the total number of friends the user has divided by the total number of users on the platform, then converted into a percentage by multiplying by 100. Output each user along with their popularity percentage. Order records in ascending order by user id. The 'user1' and 'user2' column are pairs of friends.
Head on over here to answer the question!
*Btw if youβre prepping for data science interviews or just want to keep yourself sharp, Stratascratch is a great platform with 10k+ real interview questions on SQL and python coding, probability, product sense etc. You can use my code βtinahuangβ at checkout for 20% off β€οΈ
PS: Reply to this email about what youβd like to see in future editions of Boopβs Keyboard! Iβm super new to writing a newsletter and I know thereβs a lot for me to learn. ALL constructive feedback is greatly appreciated :)

I kid you not but I really love reading your newsletters. You're always touching various topics and disseminating valuable insights yet keeping it simple and on point. ππ»
Even though I'm in my mid 20's, I really want to learn about many things. Key thing is the framework I believe. Since the beginning of this year I've been trying to find a way to study & learn consistently but I didn't have a healthy life-style before, in terms of studying (i.e. never going outside and playing video games, binge watching series). I believe what you said, "exploit what pushes your buttons" and "adopt a low-bar mindset", is really important, I couldn't agree more. Nowadays even throwing myself outside for a 15min walk saves me from rotting in the bed whole day. πββοΈπ¨π
